Ready to get your hands dirty?
About.
Have you always wanted to try working with clay, but couldn’t get into a class? Feeling nervous about trying something new?
Or maybe you have past experience, and just want to make something! Then, you have come to the right place!
MSH Clay Studio is the teaching studio of artist, Megan Hinman. After a long career teaching high school ceramics, Megan is ready to give her community the chance to experience clay-making in a laid-back, personal space. Megan provides one-on-one instruction to small groups and individuals in handbuilding techniques as well as on the pottery wheel. The studio is also open to experienced clay enthusiasts who need a place to work and/or fire their pieces. Megan strives to create a comfortable and approachable space for all to experience the joy of making handmade objects. And maybe find a new passion (or obsession)!

What We Offer
-
No experience necessary - Try wheel throwing without committing to a multi-week course!
$85 for 1 person
$75/person for 2 people (great for friends or a date night!)
You will receive 90 minutes of hands-on, step-by-step instruction. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided. You will have the opportunity to walk away with finished ceramic wares!
You will each be given three 1 lb balls of clay, your own work station, pottery wheel, and tools to use.
Should you wish to keep what you make, one (1) finished work per person is included in the class price. However, additional pieces (up to 3 per person) can be finished for $10 a piece.
Your chosen piece(s) will be cleaned up, glazed, and fired by us in the available color(s) of your choosing. By the time they are complete, they will be food, drink, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
Your handcrafted work(s) of art will be finished and ready for pickup in roughly 4-6 weeks (give or take)!

Get ready to play! These one-time handbuilding pottery workshops are great for first-time potters — or those looking for a fun project that you can complete in one night! This is a fun and relaxing chance to unplug, hang out with friends, and get creative, and maybe a little muddy too!
Check our schedule for the current options. Workshops are held 1-2 times per week, so keep an eye out for the latest!

Put your skills to use on your own! Once you have taken a few classes whether it is at the studio with me, or through another ceramics studio, you can sign up for independent, uninstructed time to work. This includes being able to wedge your own clay, recycle your own scraps and clean your space fully.
Each drop-in session will be 90 minutes long. You will have access to the potter’s wheel and all necessary tools. Projects are up to you and you can work at your own pace.
You can purchase clay from the studio or use your own. If you bring your own clay, it MUST be cone 5/6 and approved prior to use.
Want to come back to continue working on a project/trim/glaze etc.? You can book a follow up session!
